Our Church

Purpose and Mission

The purpose of Northwest Chinese Baptist Church is to carry out the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in Matthew 28:19-20.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (NASB)

We strive to accomplish this through the following:

Love God

Through communal and individual worship of God.

Love People

Through joining out community groups.

Serve Others

Through the outreach of ministry teams.

History

In 1982, members of First Chinese Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona felt led by the Holy Spirit to begin a new work in the northwest part of Phoenix. On January 9, 1983, fourteen families were sent to begin the mission known as First Chinese Baptist Chapel. The first service was held at Apollo Baptist Church in Glendale with 40 people in attendance. In the spring of 1985, the mission officially became Northwest Chinese Baptist Church. The present facilities on 43rd Avenue and Greenway Road were completed in 1988.

In the beginning, worship services were held in English with translation into Cantonese. Since 2000, a second Mandarin/Cantonese service has been held. The Lord has grown Northwest Chinese Baptist Church into a church of people from different backgrounds and ethnicities.
